I'm thinking this Westinghouse is a POS and that I'm throwing good $ bad. I'm struggling with the idea that "high speed" HDMI cables are going to fix this issue seeing as this exact same setup works on my 4 year old 39" LG and my 10+ year old 52" rear projection Toshiba. Last night after trying several unplugs, power up routines it did work long enough for me to watch a program I had recorded on the DVR on the DirecTV but won't come back on today. I tried the whole unplug for 30 mins again trick and nothing. My DirecTV has a resolution button on the front of the receiver and when I cycle through I get video intermittently but it won't last. Here's the rub, I live 6 hours from a Target where I bought it. I called Westinghouse again and wasted my time with an outsourced guy who basically told me to take it back. I then wrestled my 39" LG off of the mount in my bedroom and plugged it in and it instantly worked.
OK, so I borrowed an HDMI switch from a friend, no luck. Again, this setup of mine worked flawlessly for years, the only difference being the new TV. Plus I've read where putting a switch after the AVR before the TV may help but that seems odd to me as I'd be adding yet another "link" in the chain?ĭoes anyone have any suggestions/solutions for me to try? I've called Westinghouse's support line, but that was a waste of time as the just blame everything but their TV. I'm not 100% sure of the "quality" of my HDMI cables as I've had them for awhile (and they worked flawlessly with my old rear projection TV) and if this could be the issue? Should I purchase "high speed" HDMI cables? I've read where there's no difference between HDMI cables (only w/ or without ethernet). I set the DirecTV receiver to show all formats, from 480i to 1080p.
If I press the resolution button on the front of the DirecTV receiver to switch between 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i the TV will show the correct resolution on the screen, sometimes flashes of video but won't maintain the video. Monkeying around with unplugging, etc I did get my DirecTV to work once via HDMI out of the AVR but as soon as I tried again the next day it wouldn't show video again. I've plugged different components directly to the TV with success (audio and video) but it defeats the purpose of having surround sound speakers (plus the speakers on the Westinghouse are terrible). but cannot get the video to appear on the TV. I've tried all power on ordering I've read about, factory reset both the TV and the AVR, tried different HDMI cables etc. I can hear the audio all the time, the Pioneer HDMI light on the front is always lit up solidly but the video won't appear on the screen. My problem seems to be a "handshake" issue with the HDMI protocols as per my reading but I can't seem to remedy it?Īll I did was pull my old TV out, put the new one in and plugged in the HDMI that runs from the OUT port of my Pioneer AVR to the HDMI Input1 on the Westinghouse TV. One HDMI out from my Pioneer AVR to the Westinghouse LED TV.Īll controlled with a Harmony 550 (which I reformatted to match my new TV)
All connected to my Pioneer 919vsx -ahk AVR via HDMI
